It still makes me cry
I like the thread.
Well, for me, there are 2 songs actually, that make me feel sad.
The 1st one is A Soldiers Christmas letter.

This time of year, it hurts the most
Daddy's not at home, I wish I could be back
She takes comfort, from a letter he wrote
She keeps them close, and she cries alone
On Christmas eve, as you go to sleep
I'll be missing you
Sending you, my love, my letter reads
A Christmas time, it hurts the most
One day you'll understand
(One day you'll understand)
I'm gone but not forgotten
On Christmas eve, as you go to sleep
I'll be missing you (I'll be missing you)
Sending you my love, My letter reads
My love will go on, my wirds come from afar
I'll be missing you, I'll be holding you
This time of year, it hurts the most
and Daddy's not at home
He'll be missing you, he'll be missing you
And on Christmas day, when you awake
I'll be missing you
Sending al my love, my letter reads

And so, as Tiny Tim observed, "God Bless us!! Everyone!!''
A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens (1843)
And the 2nd one, is the following..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAwYBBuXIyM
Third Day - Merry Christmas
There's a little girl trembling on a cold December morn
Crying for momma's arms
At an orphanage just outside a little China town
There the forgotten are
But half a world away I hang the stockings by the fire
And dream about the day when I can finally call you mine
It's Christmas time again but you're not home
Your family is here and yet you're somewhere else alone
And so tonight I pray that God will come and hold you in his arms
And tell you from my heart I wish you Merry Christmas
As I hang the tinsel on the tree and watch the twinkling lights
I'm warmed by the fire's glow
Outside the children tumble in a wonderland of white,
Make angels in the snow
But half a world away you try your best to fight the tears
And hope that heaven's angels come to carry you here
It's Christmas time again but you're not home
Your family is here and yet you're somewhere else alone
And so tonight I pray that God will come and hold you in his arms
And tell you from my heart I wish you Merry Christmas
Christmas is a time to celebrate the holy child
And we celebrate his perfect gift of love
He came to earth to give his life
And prepare a place for us
So we could have a home with him above
It's Christmas time again and now you're home
Your family is here so you will never be alone
So tonight before you go to sleep, I'll hold you in my arms
And I'll tell you from my heart, and I'll you from my heart
I wish you Merry Christmas

'Lonely This Christmas' by Mud and 'Blue Christmas' by Elvis.
So let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend kris kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.
I agree with "The Christmas Shoes". I just watched the movie again last week and cried through the entire thing!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
Even if I do not like the film (The Christmas Shoes) at all, whenever I listen to the song on radio stations, I always burst into tears.

I saw that movie for the first time last Christmas on the Lifetime channel. I thought it was good but sad as too, and the song goes well with the movie. Another song that I think is sad is "Merry Christmas Darling" by Karen Carpenter.I'm sure you can search and find it on Youtube She sang it beautifully but you can also hear the sadness in her voice.

Karen Carpenter had a beautiful voice. Always very emotional!
