If you get LED's with the traditional screw in base you want have those problems. I have LED C9 lights all the way around my house the light strings will hold incandescent or LED bulbs. You can get the strings as long as you like and you just put the plugs on your self (very easy)

'I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future!' Scrooge repeated, as he scrambled out of bed. 'The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. Oh, Jacob Marley! Heaven, and the Christmas Time be praised for this! I say it on my knees, old Jacob, on my knees!' (Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol)

LEDs are very cool (and bright), but I still have a ton of the incandescent C-7 and C-9. I might switch when the LED comes out with a twinkle version... lol
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps, means a little bit more!"
