    :holly: Nativity Sets

I have too many Christmas decorations, so a couple of years ago I gave away my Jim Shore nativity set. Well, I just bought a tabletop nativity shadow box. It has a little light inside and is battery operated.

    I love it!
I have too many Christmas decorations too. If I put everything out it looks like a store. Now I just rotate things from year to year.

I was rotating, but I have to stop doing that! My basement will burst! :D

My problem is that I can't get rid of the decorations from our childhood- they have so many happy memories attached to them!

I like your shadow box. Sometimes I like the simpler things, they help me appreciate things more.

I don't know if this topic came up before, but, do you prefer Jim Shore or Thomas Kinkade? Or do you like them equally?
The holly's up, the house is all bright, The tree is ready, the candles alight; Rejoice and be glad, all children tonight.

I don't have anything from childhood and my mother didn't keep them either until my sister and I made some in 1964. Now she thinks those are lost.

I gave away my Jim Shore Nativity set, but I saved some of my other Jim Shore items. I've only bought Thomas Kinkade jigsaw puzzles and I still have them. My nativity sets include about four pieces of Hummel figures, and multiple wood sets made or designed in Germany, plus a gorgeous wood set made by Sevi (a famous Italian toymaker). I think I like the Hummel figures most.

I don't have photos of every set.

(I now have Joseph and a little angel.)

This set was designed in Germany, but made in Taiwan. I purchased it in January 1981; I didn't have the funds in December 1980. Photo taken 2007.

This is the set I gave away. Photo taken 2010.

    Oh, yeah, the Sevi set:

I have another set in the basement, but I can't remember the brand. And I have a miniature German wood set for my American Girl dolls.
