No guests, just me and my son. I bought a turkey breast since even a 10lb turkey would be way too much for just the two of us

My mother got a 10-lb. turkey for herself and said it's the first time ever that her turkey didn't turn out! How sad.

I remember the year I had surgery and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks - it was 3 months before Thanksgiving. That year I was just able to walk by Thanksgiving so decided to go ahead and make dinner. Nothing I made that year tasted right to me. I got all the same compliments from everyone and thought they were lying. Then I realized it was just me. Nothing tasted right because my body was still in "healing mode" and my taste buds just weren't working! This actually went on for another3 months or so!

One of my sisters and her husband has been hosting. They had 19 people this year. We all bring a dish- I can't imagine the amount of prep if they had to do it alone!
The holly's up, the house is all bright, The tree is ready, the candles alight; Rejoice and be glad, all children tonight.

I just got a feeling of excitement for Thanksgiving! I was listening to holiday music, and the Thanksgiving music from the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special came on!!

Thanksgiving is a beautiful holiday. I always think back to what the pilgrims must have gone thru and how thankful they must have been for a successful harvest!

I always like to think of that, too.

Well, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this year, but I have some doubts about what it will actually entail. We have our house up for sale. If the house hasn't sold by then, I'm sure I'll at least be busy packing, etc. If the house has sold, I may not yet be settled into my new place. Either way, we'll do one of two things: Spend Thanksgiving in Syracuse with my sister and her family or just go out to eat! I always host Thanksgiving, so this is going to be very traumatic! God forbid any of my husband's sisters-in-law, step up to the task!

We are still kicking around a couple different options for this year. I think we will probably invite my parents over (or go over there) this year. I typically like to have Thanksgiving plans finalized some time in September.
