    Butter Tarts

I was looking at the mince pie thread and realized a lot of Americans and Europeans have probably never had Butter Tarts. I think they are uniquely Canadian. They make an appearance at the Canadian dessert table, but they aren't just served at Christmas. Anyway I thought people might like to try them. Here is a recipe. These are NOT low calorie.

    Butter Tarts

    1/4 c. butter
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    1 egg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. raisins
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts

cream butter, mix in sugar and syrup - add egg - beat until light. Stir in remaining ingredients.

    bake 450 - 8 mins. (5 mins)
reduce heat to 375 bake another 15 mins (10 mins)

--- do not pre bake tart shells ---

The recipe looks good. I should make them and get someone in the family to give me an opinion.
