I agree- my favorites are the classics. I was wondering the same thing about childhood associations.

I don't like the Hallmark type movies (I don't like dramas in general, so that might explain it) and Nightmare Before Christmas is a Hallowe'en movie to me. I pretty much stay away from modern Christmas movies, if I'm really looking to get in the mood (though The Polar Express wasn't bad).
The holly's up, the house is all bright, The tree is ready, the candles alight; Rejoice and be glad, all children tonight.

The Hallmark movies are usually pretty terrible. However, my wife and I discovered that we still like to watch even the cheesiest ones because they still fill heart with holiday joy. Plus, it's kind of fun to change up the pace from the usual "staples" that we always like to watch.

Yes Olga - Home Alone was great, and Home alone 2 was enjoyable - but all down hill after that!

I'm not a fan of Bad Santa either. I like my Christmas movies to be kind of Sappy. I have never seen The Jim Carey Grinch movie,Fred Clause or any of the Santa Clause movies because they just don't appeal to me.

OMG I thought this last year and actually felt a little guilty that I didn't want to watch it again because I used to look forward to it every Thanksgiving.

Home Alone 4 was horrible, should have never been made.

Does 3 or 4 even take place at Christmas - that's, like, the #1 best thing about those films.
Except, of course, KEVIN MCALLISTER - having anyone but him is silly.

Ohhhh... Home Alone 1 & 2 MAY BE my FAVOURITE Xmas movies..... I can't wait to watch them in a few months!!!

I really enjoy 1, but 2 leaves me kind of saying "meh". I'd bet you probably like it because it takes place in New York City at Christmas!
