When my girls were young and I was their Girl Scout troop leader, we always had a year-end Christmas party where we had a secret Santa ornament exchange (instead of gifts), a visit from Santa and an inexpensive craft (a gift for their parents) along with Christmas treats (everyone brought something from home)!

Great post. I love homemade gifts. I agree its not the best for everyone. I do enjoy the love that was put in every effort.
