    Smells of christmas

As a visually-impaired child in the 1970s I remember the new plastic smell of toys on christmas morning, it never seemed to last beyond that day. No doubt by now most of those plastics have been condemned as a health hazard but I loved that smell...
So let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend kris kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.

    :gingerbread:

...and I loved the smell of the freshly baked Christmas kourabiedes and melomakarona. Traditional Christmas pastries. And the smell of cinnamon...always a favorite.

Pine trees and cinnamon. The smell of mulled wine, or glögg as we call it here in Denmark, also really puts me in the Christmas mood.

as a kid growing up in the 70's my grandma's house on my father's side always smelled of smoke because so many smoked back then. Couldn't smell the Christmas tree . Grandparents on my mother's side didn't smoke, nobody did so the fireplace smell is what i remember most, that great warm fire place
