The recipe for Split Pea Soup (one of the giveaway submissions):

Split Pea Soup

2 cups dried split peas
8 cups water
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup extra-lean ham, chopped into small pieces
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water

Combine split peas, water, onions, ham, salt and pepper in a large soup kettle. Simmer for 1.5- 2 hours or longer if desired. (Soup will be thicker the longer it cooks.) Blend cornstarch in cold water until smooth; stir into hot soup to thicken. Makes 10 servings.

Notes: Soup freezes well.
