How did you decorate your home for last year's Christmas?
when my children were younger we would always make paperchains, or paper loops with construction paper, using the Christmas colors and hang around doorways. We also always made paper snow flakes to hung from ceiling with fishing line, which was thin and clear.
Now that they have children , me and the grandkids keep the tradition up. They love doing this and always chat away about Christmas. I love hearing their little ideas, thoughts and coming of Santa.
They are so happy to see these decorations up that they made. They help bring in that Christmassy feeling every year.
I had to work right through the Holidays, so all I did was put a wreath on the door. This year I want Christmas to be HUGE!
Last year year we put four trees up. We had a snowman theme going on. We really went all out inside the house. Outside we kept it basic because a bunch of our decor burnt out big time.
Great idea!:christmastree:
Last Christmas sort of snuck up on me with working a lot. My porch was very plain with just a wreath. I realized I had retired my old frosty snowman that normally sits on my porch, and my lights were burnt out , and I just forgot to buy new ones to put up .
Every night when I came home from work , I felt bad I should of decorated a bit more..
My grandkids were disappointed Frosty wasn't there to greet them, and I also had big presents that lit up and open. They loved those too.
I guess you can tell I bought all those decorations at the same time, and they all went at once....lol:santa2:
This year I am starting early with at least buying decorations needed and make sure I get a new Frosty as well.
:treedance:
I have not yet downsized from the time when we use to put up 8-12 trees. So, like outside, each year is a bit different. Some of the decorations are the same, but much (like the trees) get changed out from year to year. :home:
This year may be totally different with my daughter headed back out on her own. That means the entire downstairs will be empty again. The imagination is already kicking into high gear... :xmaswink:
Outside got done big time, but injuries slowed down the inside. Got trees into the library and music room before it hit, but this year (for the first time) not in the living room. :presents3:
We will use the one in the library this year. Here is a photo... Attachment 7593
Thank you. I added the dalmatians looking at the tree as a last minute inspiration... :tree:
I think i especially liked all the lights that i put around my fence.
Last year was played down just a it due to some unforseen problems that came up late in the year. I'm sure we all have experienced that at one time or another. Fortunately this year is much improved, even with my injury just after Thanksgiving. All better now, just needed some healing time... :xmaswink:
This year, my wife and I will open our gifts under the main tree located in the library. It has always been in the main living room in the past, but this year we decided to do it a little different. Especially since I turned a portion of the library into her Harry Potter room... :reindeer2:
Does anyone hang framed Christmas pictures around the house, in place of the regular pictures/portraits hanging on the walls?
As a matter of fact, yes. We have a framed set of Disney Pins that are framed and set on a copy of the original Disney Christmas Card, a Santa canvas with him holding a list with all the family names on it and I framed Mistletoe, that says... Meet Me Under the Mistletoe... :home:
It always looks nice to see those items. Probably why I spend a lot of time in my office... lol :christmastree:
This year is a bit more extreme. With several villages in the various rooms (including Diagon Alley in the library) and trees upstairs and down. So no matter what room we are relaxing in, we can experience the magic of Christmas... :snowman:
I had outside lights last year but I decided when they got worn out I wouldn't decorate outside anymore. Concentrate on the inside :santa:
I did inside and outside. Here is yard... :hopxmas:

Here is our tree this year. I've been preferring it without the garland, so I can see all the different ornaments. I'm usually overruled.
I was living with family who don't decorate for anything ever, so I didn't get even a tree last year. This year it's on though.
It is tough when others choose not to decorate. But glad to hear it will be merrier this year. :elf3:
