Love valentines day :)
I like it because it breaks up the depressing winter months between Christmas and springtime.
we usually take my parents out to lunch on Vaslentines day. A tradition I started when I was single. I had no one special so I would take my parents out to lunch but now I am married and we still take my parnets out to lunch. although maybe this year the two of us will cook for my parents instead. Have not thought that far ahead yet.
I enjoy Valentine's Day also. It is a great way to show people you love them. Although I do think that we should practice this year round!
Ah, this forum answers my question I had about what people talk about when the holiday season's over :)
I'm starting the police academy January 5th. A visit from my gf is in the works, which will surely lift my sapped spirits ><
I've gotta get some good ideas for this year...
I am going to get my parents and hubby a nice valentine but I am not sure what to get hubby for a gift and chocolates are out and he don't like stuffed animals like I do or flowers! Any suggestions?
I wish I could say I like Valentines Day. Not anymore I don't have Parents that are alive and been divorced for 3 years.
I'm sooooooooo sorry about that,I don't know whats the matter with me lately.Guess I'm feeling sorry for myself,I shouldn't though.Sorry again
sorry you feel that way. I have been there! I love to do something special for my parents. I thank God for them everyday!
Although I do love Valentine's day, I remember back in 1998 my college roommates and I all broke up with our significant others on Valentine's day-- it was the worst ever for all of us. Some of us were the dumpers, others were the dumpees. But we decided not to sit around and sulk about it so we went out and had some fun. Despite the breakups, we had a pretty good evening, lol.

I love looking at your pictures Marshmallow World. Your decorations always put me in such a good mood.
I can't wait to see what you do for st patty's day and Easter. I bought vinyl clings for my front door for Valentines and St Patty's day. I would like a wreath for easter!.:singing:
Me TOO MW! love your things.Where did you get the pink dishes and cups? I absolutely LOVE THEM!!
I buy Valentine's plates and cups on sale right after Valentine's Day, usually at Walmart.
Silly me. I thought you were asking about the paper plates! The pink dishes are a type of pottery called Majolica. I got them a few years back from the Touchstone catalog. I keep the pink dishes in my hutch throughout the year except for the Christmas season.

walmart is already putting out the easter decorations and candy. I am going to make my parents a small basket. and hubby one as well. The dogs baskets have to be found and starting to shop for them!
I always make for my great nieces and nephews a basket. But this year I think I'm going to make an Easter Necklace That's full of candy, eggs.I made that years ago and the kids I made it for loved them and their parents liked them as well
I'm glad I stopped looking at Valentine's Day as just a sweetheart thing. After being disappointed by it a few times, I discovered that if I set out to romance myself, and other people I know, I had a far better time than just giving and receiving from a sweetheart. Anything else is just icing on the cake. It feels good taking responsibility for my own happiness and makes me more creative and festive in giving to other people. :)
Last year I sent Valentines to all my relatives- a glittery card with a handwritten Valentine poem in it. I was surprised how well it was received. It made me see that no matter what age you are, people always like to be remembered on Valentine's Day. :D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...doneinlove.gif Yeah, I think it's for more people than just sweethearts.
it's for everyone!
I send valentines to my greats and my niece Aimee who was married on valentines day years ago.:jumping:
I love it too...:jumping:
