Thanks for the replies.
I also love the smell of Thanksgiving foods cooking. It's a wonderful family time together and I feel the Thanksgiving holiday is a very important day and not for the food, it's a time of Thanksgiving and a time for family.
I love all of it. we have turkey (I like both, but I am a dark meat fan), stuffing, (I like to add sausage, celery, dried cherries) real mashed potatoes, gravy, jellied cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes (sometimes add just salt and butter, sometimes a little brown sugar, too) broccoli, brussel sprouts, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sometimes apple pie, too. I might have forgotten something. The best part is the leftovers; getting to eat this meal for at least a few more dinners, YUM!!! oh, and I forgot, we also have green bean casserole. It's my favorite meal of the year.
My all time favorite is pumpkin pie. I also love turkey breast, cranberry/orange relish and spiced fruit.

Home made cranberry sauce with raspberries and orange

this will be 6 years of pizza for me now, lol. never was a big fan of turkey
stuffing made with arborio rice, small salami chunks, ground beef, mozzarella and parmesan cheese + turkey!
a turkey that juicy and cooked properly is my fav Thanksgiving main food
pumpkin pie with home made whipped cream is my fav Thanksgiving dessert. Both of these I usually only once a year, on Thanksgiving
My very favorite Thanksgiving food is stuffing. I just LOVE stuffing......Don't eat a lot though as it is real fattening....But I love it !!! :smitten:
Since I have been cooking Thanksgiving dinner (with only a few years off) since 1979, I get to chose my own menu and I love every item! Appetizers: spinach balls, stuffed cherry tomatoes. Main: Roast turkey with gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams, homemade cranberry sauce, green beans amondine, scallopped corn, relish platter, rolls. Desserts: apple pie, pumpkin pie, mince pie and about 10 other desserts that my guests bring.
I wish we celebrated Thanksgiving in the UK. I love the idea of serving lots of home baked pies!!!!
Equally Id love to attend a thanksgiving dinner hopefully next year when we relocate a kind neighbour may take pity!
NCD - are you moving to the USA?
Top two favorites are definitely white turkey breast with gravy for main course and homemade apple pie for dessert
Scallopped Corn is great!
Soup (pea soup that is creamy and delicious), stuffing, stuffed mushrooms, and sweet potatoes. Mmmm, I'm getting hungry.
I'll put it this way...I'll eat most of what's fixed. Turkey, stuffing with gravy, candied sweet potatoes, macaroni & cheese (it's just about the only time my mom makes homemade rather than the box. I used to hate it, but now I love it!), broccoli with cheese sauce, celery sticks with peanut butter on them. And for dessert, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving if there was no pumpkin pie. Of course, I love pecan pie, too, but no one else in my family does. I think I'm just gonna have to make myself a pie this year.
I just plnned my Thanksgiving menu with a few diatary tweeks! Three of eight people attending are diabetic!
Never made deviled eggs for Thanksgiving. I think this year may be the first.
I never heard that deviled eggs were a Thanksgiving tradition until I saw it postesd here last year!
My girlfriend's mother makes this Pumpkin Soup -- it sounds kind of strange but believe me, its awesome! Apparently its a real pain in the rear-end to make so she only does it for Thanksgiving (no matter how often I request it-- which is often)
My Brother in Law, the first Holiday I knew him, brought Deviled Eggs. I remember thinking, oh this is strange I have never had them before. They were good but I figured Deviled Eggs was his families holiday staple -- turns out he just really likes deviled eggs and makes them for just about every function.
I enjoy deviled eggs myself, but they seem like a 4th of July BBQ thing!
I've spent alotm of time the last few days making food shopping and to-do lists for Thanksgiving! I really like to be organized, but I also enjoy the planning process!
We always have about the same menu every year but I think my favorite is broccoli and rice casserole. Yummy! I also like sweet potato casserole. I usually host Thanksgiving but my sisters all help bring stuff. We were laughing while we were planning this year because we have so many casseroles. And yes, my sister is bring deviled eggs!
