Post anything speacial that you do on Easter.
My family goes to church in the morning and has dinner in the middle of the day. I usually make ham. My kid eat candy all day.
We go to church every year and then visit family. No big meals, but we get together to eat lunch/dinner. Last year was our son's 1st Easter so we had to go get his Easter goodies from all the grandparents after church.
We go to church and then have Easter dinner at our youngest daughter's.
I like Easter.. Just not as much as Christmas, as, in that Holiday I dont get that happy as I get with Christmas.
Easter in Greece is the most important annual religious feast and people take it very seriously, there is a deep religious devotion..
We gather in church every evening and morning throughout Great Week and its a very very sad week..
Honestly, I do not feel well those days. :sad elf:
The only day we are happy is Sunday, the most people's favorite day.
Jesus is resurrected from the dead and a big eating / drinking / dancing thing is starting and lasts for 2 days, in every village square of the country..
:rudolph:
Yes Easter is not as happy as Christmas! Especially Holy Week! I go to the "Stations of the Cross" at church and find that very sad.
It is much more of a religious holiday. There are fun things for the kids - like egg hunts and visits with the Easter Bunny. We also color eggs, dress up for church, get baskets of candy from the Bunny himself, and have a big dinner - usually ham!
We hae a nice ham dinner also and we color eggs ass we also have easter egg hunts and i make special easter goodies for everyone.
Yea, we color eggs, too, in Holy Thursday.. Then, go to church all evening and night.
That day was The Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.
The last 30 years TV always shows the mini series of Jesus The Nazareth, by Franco Jefirelli with great Robert Powel as Jesus..
I would say that this film is for many people the most accurate portayal of Jesus..
:rudolph:
Good movie
I too love Jesus of Nazareth. Though it is hard for me to watch, I also liked Passion Of The Christ. I usually try to watch it at least once during Easter season. It helps me rememer what He did for us and how much He gave. I am always really sad on Good Friday. I literally cry off and on all day. On Easter Sunday morning, I can't explain what happens to me but I have like a "giddy" feeling of happiness because I know that He has risen.
And I also love the music of the film.. Its amazing...
We watch Jesus of Nazareth in Holy Week and watch Passion of the Christ on Holy Saturday. Both of those movies can make me sob, but I think they're both excellent.
I started taking Good Friday off from work, because the day would fly by and I would feel really bad not paying attention to it.
I really love Easter! I just wish it was a little later in the year when the weather is a bit warmer. We go to church and then to our daughter's for dinner.
I agree... I like Easter with warm days...
we come down from bed, open baskets and eat candy, eat fried eggs,go to church, play games e.i. baseball, get tired, then sit around :D
LOL! I answered this twice. Duh!
Marshmallow World - Do you own the Madame Alexander doll you posted a pic of? I collect Madame Alexander dolls and ornaments. I own the Little Women series and others! They are beautiful dolls!
We give Easter baskets to each other (no kids) and go to Mrs. XmasDVD's parents for Easter lunch. Just relax for the day.
I spend time in the garden and watch my nephews look for Easter eggs
We have chocolatte eggs, with booze from the pub topped off with cheasy music.
Considering no one has replied since 4/4/10 it seems easter is well and truly over.
Easter is not really over for me at least.....it lives on in the warm Spring days and in the celebration of the Resurrection.....

Hello. And Bye.
Well, first of all...we go to church on Saturday evening with my parents. Afterward, the church puts on an Easter Egg Hunt for all the little kids (plastic eggs with candy in them). On Easter Sunday, we get up and the boys have to find their Easter Baskets. The Easter Bunny brings them and hides them somewhere in the house!! Then we go to our church. Afterward, it's ham & cheesy potatoes...then relax a bit.
We go to church, then hunt for easter eggs in the back yard at my moms. I make a HUGE ham, and mom usually makes potato salad and baked beans. I put out a couple of plastic eggs with $$ in them so that my boy can find them. :elf1:
Don't do much now when I was younger used to go on Easter Egg Hunts in the garden I just eat my eggs I've been given.
Easter was alot of fun when the kids were small. We would color eggs the night before. I would set up the big baskets and hide eggs for the egg hunt. We would all get together after church for dinner(ham, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, cake with coconut frosting) . All the little cousins would be dressed in their Easter best - they were so cute! My youngest niece is now 13; the oldest almost 28! So those cute days are over! Miss them!
Easter is always more fun for kids than adults.
Never had any Easter traditions.
This year I'm making an Easter basket for a teen nephew and toddler niece. So far I have a bubble wand, peeps, a kite and chocolate ducks.
going to have a nice dinner in my new home as i'm having my sister and my nieces here and have a candy hunt.:happyeaster::happyeaster::easterjump::easter jump:
Easter in Greece is the most important annual religious feast (Christmas is the second one).
Every day of Holy Week, most families, so as my family too, gather in church every morning and evening..
On Holy Thursday the bright dyed red eggs that are symbolic of Easter in Greece are prepared.
Tradition says that the Virgin Mother, Mary, dyed eggs this color to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ and to celebrate life. Every Greek family prepares these eggs, first thing in the morning..
Women in Greek families are also busy baking koulouria - dough cookies and Tsoureki - traditional sweet bread for the Easter feast.
Good Friday is a very mournful day and that day is The Procession of the Epitaphios of Christ.. Flags fly at half-mast, church bells toll, everyone holds a candle, following the Epitaphios for at least 2 hours..
The only day people is happy is Sunday, where Jesus is resurrected from the dead and a big eating / drinking / dancing thing is starting and lasts for 2 days, in every village square of the country..
You will also see people carry around a brightly colored egg that day and when they meet another person, they knock their eggs together saying, "Christ is risen".
We don't do much. It's just a good opportunity to relax and spend time with your family We have a meal and obviously lots of Easter chocolate!
Going to church for Easter service then home to make my corned beef and cabbage with potato's white and sweet, peas & beets, homemade biscuits, pickles, deviled eggs and a bunny cake for dessert plus my other candy confections and cookies also an easter egg hunt for the little ones.Attachment 6991
Occasionally, we will still color eggs the night before. When the kids were little, I would do an egg hunt for them and their cousins. I will still make up very small Easter baskets for them, but it is mainly an adult holiday now. Lots of eating - Ham, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, salad, mac-n-cheese, and carrot cake! Can't wait to have a few grandchildren!
