now I got thinking of doing a platter of canapes/appetizers/fingerfood with a bottle of Chardonnay for the two of us
this instead of an xmas eve dinner

It's the Italian tradition to eat 7 kinds of fish yuk!
I tend to nosh on cheese, crackers and pepperoni maybe sausage peppers and onions.PIZZA! umm I think you just gave me a good idea since I make my own pizza I'll ditch the sausage peppers and onion and go with the pizza! and of course a good bottle of wine too :tree:

I am making ham , cheese balls, potato chips and dip. Everyone else will bring something to add to it. I thought of making meatballs as well but depends on the finances.presentspresentspresentspresentspresentsp resents

We usually have fish, pierogies and mushroom soup. This is our version of my mother's traditional eastern European meal for Christmas eve.

I make something different every year. I am thinking about doing a tapaslike thing this year. My only requirement is that it should be something I don't eat the rest of the year.

I remember one holiday when I was a kid where I wanted pizza. It was on New Year's Eve.

My menu was usually Fancy Franks, fruit tray, veggie tray, deviled eggs, warm bread, cookies, cake & chocolates, and beverage, but now I do this on Christmas night.

We had home baked cookies and breads and pies so it was a munch type night which we usually had sandwiches and ate some of the baked goodies and hot chocolate and we also had sodas as christmas day was the big meal.:waving::christmastree:

Nothing special this year, unless I ride with my sister to see her dad and step mother. Then it will most likely be finger foods. Simple yet, Just as yummy.:gelf:

Tlazer......

Do you make your own crust? If so, would you be willing to share the recipe? I have yet to find a great pizza dough recipe! :(

The stuffed cherry tomatoes are stuffed with bacon, scallions and mayonaisse. I always get TONS of compliments on them!

Someone was talking about Pizza dough (about a year back) and I doubt its still relevant but there is really nothing to making Pizza dough-- I've been doing it since I was 10. 1 package of active yeast from the supermarket, about a cup and a half of warm water, 3.5 to 4 cups of all purp flour, 2 shots of olive oil, and some salt -- mix it up and then let it do its thing for an hour-- bing bang boom -- pizza dough ready to boogie.
