I used to love tagging a Christmas tree! The farm that we went to, went out of business and no one around here does it anymore. It was nice going in September when the weather was still pleasant and you could stroll comfortably around, getting into the Christmas spirit early! I miss it!

Yes, it really is a shame to see these days. It seems everyone wants people to accept who and what they are without complaint or negative opinion, but they can say that such conduct needs to stop when it represents anything that can be taken in a religious fashion.

I know it may be a bit early but I have been buying some items for my homemade recipe jars. I think that's what you would call them. They would have the dry ingredients in the jars, and a tag with the written wet ingredients to place in for the person receiving it...I have already gotten mason jars, tags, fabric for sewing the bags to place them in with ribbon. I only mention this and started buying items so come close to Christmas I won't be scrambling to find items I need....i will actually be able to make these with out being in a hurry...lol I notice my family loves to bake and thought this would be a nice family idea for them, and a enjoyable craft for my self to put together...I also got yarn on sale and am doing some blankets as gifts....:waving:

Those jars are a nice idea and sound like they will look festive when you're done with them. I unfortunately can't start early this year, as I don't know how we'll be celebrating. Last year it was decided not to exchange gifts (not even stockings). I tried to enjoy it despite that, but I have to say it lost something for me. Even though I can get stressed trying to find the right gift for everyone, I like Christmas shopping and wrapping- it's part of the whole holiday experience for me (more than I realized).

I have looked into homemade gifts here and there, but I'm like Bishop- not super crafty (wish I were). I'm still thinking about it, though. I had been tossing around the idea of making tonic wines for people (I'm into herbal/Chinese medicine) and dressing them up, but haven't researched that enough yet. I would love to get gifts ready, or at least partially ready, in the summer- extending the holiday season and like you said, not having to hurry!

I hope you have fun making your gifts Lizzie! :presents2:

Getting my tree dusted today and ready to decorate. Roof lights and a wreath above the door will be reconnected for the season... :reindeer2:

Do your neighbors ever comment on your CIJ decorations?

Snowfall on Christmas Eve- it doesn't have to stick (so people can travel and we don't have to shovel), but a nice amount to really get us in the mood!

Classic Christmas Carols being sung by those who made them famous... i.e., White Christmas by Bing Crosby, The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole, The most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams... etc :carols:

Same here. I record a few when I am at work, but usually just keep them on while I am decorating (which has already begun)... :santa:

It's so festive.

The Staples delivery man at my work is a big, burly, formidable looking guy. Today he was wearing a sweater with a reindeer coming out the front and the back of it, and a necklace of lights. :elf1:

Very cool and guess what? They are now calling for snow late Christmas Eve and Christmas day. The Lord listens to even the smallest prayer... :my lord:

How nice! Did you actually get it?
We haven't seen a flake anywhere. We usually get at least a dusting mid-month. And now a lot of the neighborhood has taken down their lights. :crying:
I'm praying that there will be SOME before we take our outdoor lights down in another week or so. :my lord:

Got some sleet, which gave the appearance of snow, but the fluffy white stuff went to the west of Sioux Falls. Oh well, there is always next year... :home:

We did end up getting some snow two days before I was going to shut my outdoor lights off, so I ended up leaving them lit for another week. :gelf:

Taking down the interior Christmas decorations (except for my office)... :waving:

I took the big trees and the interior Christmas decor down on 1/16, while I was home on a snow day (listening to Christmas music :snowman:). It was early for me, but I was feeling a mild stress at the back of my mind that I was going to have to do it soon, so I just decided to do it. I decorated for winter with white lights, snowflakes and evergreens, leaving up most of my mini trees (that didn't have red on them). It helps me transition from Christmas, since it's so difficult to say goodbye to all the cheery decor! :crying:
I'll be taking down my candles in the windows this Fri 2/2.

I finished the remainder of the decor removal yesterday. However, my office is decorated year round... :reindeer2:

Do you decorate your office for any of the other holidays, or is that room just Christmas?

Office is just Christmas, but other portions of the house (especially the Harry Potter library) to get slight makeovers for other holidays... i.e. St Patrick's Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc... :yahoo:
