Yes I was trying to mow lawn before it got really hot out but my lawn mower wouldn't work. Though, I've been thinking of you guys out west- I went outside because I wanted to take in the haziness, only to get a deep breath of smog that smelled like burning plastic. They say it's the smoke from all the burning out your way.

I'm trying to remember that it's better to have the rain and coolness than the searing heat/drought/fires that you all are having. But facing 9 months of cold coming up, without a proper summer... :crying:

The foliage on some of the trees and burning bushes started to change color around the end of July, when we were still in the cool, rainy weather. I was surprised- I thought all that happened based on the hours of light/dark- I didn't think it happened by temperature. It did halt when the weather finally started to get warm and the sun finally came out, but my asters are blooming now prematurely. I wonder if they'll still be around when the foliage does finally change completely...which normally happens in October here.

We've been hovering in the low 80's with sun lately, but a chance of rain is forecast for every day. Have been getting a lot of thunderstorms and a couple days ago we had a tornado come down from Massachusetts (didn't hit us down in the valley).

Looks like we got an unexpected dusting last night. Fine with me as it covers the wires in the yard and just about will insure a White Christmas now. As far as the temps and forecasts... it is now 16 degrees with a forecast high of only 18. By the time we get to Christmas day, it will be above freezing, but only slightly... :cold:

Today is a high of 22. But falling temps and a wind chill waning goes into effect as of 6PM this evening and lasting till noon tomorrow. Luckily, it will be up in the high 30's to low 40's for Monday and Tuesday before they plummet once again. Looks like I will clear the yard on those days... lol :home:

We did finally get snow, early Friday morning- 4-6". My lights look so nice out there with it. Tomorrow night will be the last night that I'll keep them lit. :sad elf: So difficult for me. Tomorrow we'll have ice and then rain, so hopefully it will melt enough of the snow for me to get the lights down on Thurs (the warmest day in the next couple weeks, at 37F).

Yes, I am grateful for air conditioning. I do like to be out in the heat, but the high humidity with the high temps is rough. I sometimes wonder what we would do if the grid went down and we had no electricity.

I don't have a/c in my bedroom (don't usually want it), so my windows are open all season. This past heat wave was 87 in there during the night- not the easiest. :santahat:

I suppose I could do without it, but glad I do not have to. In fact when I bought the house, I told the realtor if it did not have a garage and Central air, to keep looking... lol

As far as currently... it is 59 degrees w/sunny skies. Predicted for a high of 83, but the 90's+ are coming back beginning Saturday and going through all of next week... :sweating:
