Yankton, SD - Native Americans followed the river’s flow to their destinations centuries ago. They named the land E-Hank-Ton-Wan, which means “people of the end village.” That is due to this was the point where riverboats on the Missouri ended their journey... :elf3:

Indeed. Which brings me to Aberdeen, SD. In it's hey day, there were four RR tracks that met here. It was dubbed the "Hub City of SD" for that reason. Elk Point, SD: History notes that the Lewis and Clark Expedition made camp in or near Elk Point on August 22, 1804. Elk Point was first settled in 1859 along the Military Road running from Sioux City to Fort Randall in the Dakota Frontier, making this community one of the oldest in South Dakota. In 1905 the British discovered tin in the area and the city grew rapidly after that. It has become a melting pot of people, due to the influx of migrants coming for work.

Stockbridge, Ma - Stockbridge might look just like a Norman Rockwell painting—and that's because it is! Each year, the town re-creates the 1967 Rockwell painting, "Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas (Home for Christmas)" during their annual festival. Old-fashioned cars line the main street to re-create the painting, and the public can tour historic homes decorated for the holidays... :waving:

Woodstock, Vt - It sounds like the image of a Christmas card: a parade of horses and buggies circling a snowy village green. But Woodstock Wassail Weekend is an actual annual event in picturesque Woodstock, Vermont. Carolers serenade townsfolk and everyone gathers for the lighting of the tree and Yule log. Historic homes and farms open to celebrate rural holiday heritage. You may have to pinch yourself to believe the charming New England spectacle! :xmashigh5:

Buenos Aires, Argentina- Christmas here is at the beginning of their summer- hot, humid and sunny. The main celebration is on Christmas Eve (Nochebuena), rather than Christmas morning. After a big family dinner, gifts are exchanged and at midnight church bells and fireworks go off all over the city. Santa often makes an appearance at homes and at malls, but other traditional things like caroling and 24-hour Christmas music on the radio don't happen here.
