Bishop- did you and your wife wait until after breakfast to open gifts when you were kids?

By saying regular ribbon, do you mean the fabric type ribbon? I do both. But, due to the fact that we've been doing only gifts that fit in the stockings the last few years, it's usually curling ribbon, since it's not as bulky on the smaller gifts.

Decorating the Christmas dinner table- if you could only choose one- green glassware or red glassware?

I like the blue lights, too. I'd never seen a white tree with white lights either -- and you're right, it does look like an ice tree.

Mistletoe

Mistletoe

Mistletoe
10-12-2021, 12:20 AM

Mistletoe
12-25-2021, 12:12 AM
Easy one for me... Rudolph!

Family names on a decoration or on a tree ornament? :santa2:

Don't you find the Santa from Rudolph a tad bit mean at times (at the elf singing practice and about Rudolph in the very beginning)?

I've not seen names on a decoration, so I will go with ornament (which we have).

Percy Faith or Ray Conniff Christmas music?

Bishop1954
12-25-2021, 04:07 PM
Don't you find the Santa from Rudolph a tad bit mean at times (at the elf singing practice and about Rudolph in the very beginning)?

Percy Faith

Do you prefer buying ornaments by the box or individually?

Mistletoe
12-26-2021, 12:55 AM
By the box. If I find ones I like, I like to have several of them throughout the tree. And the individual ones tend to be large and heavy (even if they are beautiful). You?

Do you prefer a tree collar or a tree skirt?

Bishop1954
12-27-2021, 01:26 PM
Actually a bit of both when it comes to ornaments. Tree Skirt. I love the way it looks with presents piled on... :xmaswink:

Mistletoe

12-31-2021, 09:03 PM
Christmas Music hands down... :santa2:

Do you like listening to various performers doing the same song or the standard (i.e. White Christmas by Bing or different artists)?

Mistletoe
01-01-2022, 05:02 AM
When I want to be soothed, I like the standards. But some of the other versions are quite good, like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen from the Dixieland Christmas album or Deck the Halls by Jackie Wilson.

Between those designs, the trees would be my preference... :elf3:

Not knowing whether or not the reader is a football fan, but, here it is... College Playoffs or NFL Playoffs?

When hanging Christmas garland in your home, do you prefer plain green pine or decorated pine (i.e. pine cones, balls or other items already attached)? :tree1:

Decorated pine (usually with pinecones or ice on them, but I wouldn't be averse to having balls or other ornaments on them either). You?

When you decorate for Christmas In July, do you prefer traditional Christmas decor or a summery/beachy Christmas feel?

Combo of beach & 4th of July, like my tree this year.

When you use ball ornaments, do you prefer plain colored ones or decorated style?7605

Very festive with the red, white and blue lights and the firecrackers coming out the top! That way you can decorate for both holidays at the same time! I like the lamp post. What are the lights on the table on the right? Candle holders? And those must be CIJ cards?

I prefer decorated ball ornaments, I think.

Christmas cactus or poinsettia?

Yes, they are candle holders and they in fact were my CIJ cards. Good catch! I'll go with Poinsettia.

For Christmas dinner... more traditional or something different? :presents1:

Traditional! I'd like to have a flaming Christmas pudding one year to top it off!

Traveling to spend Christmas with family, or having them come to you?

That's tough. So many advantages to both, but I will go with travel to them... :presents1:

Classic Christmas movies or the newer productions? :snowman:

Definitely classic. I've been thinking about watching a 1930's movie- I usually like the set designs of that era.

With guests over on the holidays- watch a movie or play a game?

Great question and since I can always watch a movie... play a game. :tree1:

For your birthday celebration... large party or intimate with just a few (or one)?

Intimate with just a few- I don't like being the center of attention and would like to feel relaxed.

Preference for Christmas gift- article of clothing or game?

There was a time when I would have said game. But since children are gone, we don't play as many. So a cool clothing item... :presents1:

Christmas celebrations in your own hometown or travel to another city for the festivities?

Considering my town has zero spirit, I prefer to go to other towns- like Old Wethersfield- they have homes from the 1600's-1800's that you can do house tours of and the whole area is all done up for Christmas. It's cozy. :christmastree:

If you were celebrating Christmas with a group of loved ones and going to spend it somewhere other than your homes, would you want to rent a cozy log cabin with a big, warm fireplace or rent a place in the city to be near all the decorations and goings on?

Great question. IN this case, where the holiday activities are, but if I could get both close by, then the cabin. :xmascandycane:

Depending on the outside weather... would you rather sit outside in front of a fire pit or inside in front of a fireplace?

Mistletoe
04-29-2023, 04:16 PM
If there were Christmas lights outside around the fire pit, I think I'd like to be outside. Especially one that you can get the natural scent of pine in (something with essential oils maybe?)

Ice skating or sledding/tubing (with a ski lift, for those of us who don't like to keep climbing the hill :santahat: )?

Tubing to be sure. I have not done it for quite awhile, but was a fav growing up... :hopxmas:
