Had a very old and dear friend over today for about 2 hours that I hadn't seen in 8 yrs. She is one of the very few people who loves the same kind of Christmas music that I do. I shared as much of my favorites with her as I could, but when you have upwards of at least 20 of them, 2 hours is like no time at all. It was so nice to enjoy such beautiful music with a kindred spirit and also great to have a good excuse to play Christmas music well before Thanksgiving.

I put up the outdoor Christmas lights! I really wish the 70F degree weather had stuck around an extra day for that. I'm putting just white lights up this year (I alternate). Had to buy all new ones, since pretty much all the strands that I had were faulty, so I have 2000 lights up and ready to go for December 1st (they were all lighting when I tested them and they better all still light in a couple weeks!)!
I also listened to my first Christmas music on the radio today!

Good job mistletoe! Yes, it has definitely gotten much cooler here! I have a tradition going with my outside lights - they wait until Dec 24th to start shorting out - usually an hour or so before the guests arrive!

I know - I'm sad just thinking about it! I do plan to do something, even if it's in a temporary location. Hope to at least get one of my trees up and some lights in a window. It will actually be more difficult if we have moved into a new place and are busy painting and replacing flooring - but I will manage something!!

Well, I got gifts mailed to my grand-niece in Seattle. Plan to buy 2 of the last 3 gifts I need, later on today - then will wrap them. I am in really good shape gift-wise, wrap-wise, card-wise, and baking-wise. Because of the move, the fruitcake will be it for the baking. I didn't realize that they pre-planned the length of each series. I guess I always thought they simply based it on sales. Although some of them would be obvious in length. I have been lucky - my Madame Alexander is on it's 21st year, the Puppy Love series is on its 26th and the Fairy Messenger is on its 12th. For my younger daughter, I started several short lived series before we settled on the Fairy Messengers. I am always impressed by the Frosty Friends series which is on its 37th year. I was given the 1st and 7th in that series as gifts and wish I had kept up with them. The first one is worth over $500 now.

I was just viewing Lemax's village collection for 2016. As many of you know, I have a large village I set up at Christmas time. I haven't added any new houses in 3 or 4 years. Lemax has some nice ones this year - including a Brewery and a Gift Shop. I know I shouldn't add to my collection, but it is so hard to resist! I guess I have about 35 houses. I have a good friend who has at least 400 houses in her collection. She has so many, she can't really even set them up as a village. She ends up stacking them on multiple tall bookcases. Can't wait to set it up in my new home this year!

I was able to watch a couple of them myself this weekend - Dashing Through the Snow (the book was much better; they changed too much in the movie) and November Snow.

Well, not today, but last night we went to an outdoor shopping mall that had a gingerbread house festival in the different shop windows. It was a bit of a disappointment, though, as the shops were all shutting down early (surprising in Christmas week), so it was nearly deserted and they weren't playing the Christmas music that's usually playing outside (which makes it so festive).
