Stir Up Sunday!
Time to mix your Christmas puddings!
OK, I buy ready made ones, but I thought I'd remind you...

I think your Christmas puddings are similar to our fruitcakes and I will be baking mine next Friday!

I haven't had a Christmas Pudding in years. Does anyone know if they make a decent Prefab one? It doesn't necessarily have to be an American Brand. I have a World Market near by, and they carry different International foods. They are more expensive than just going to a Supermarket, but it's Christmas. I can splurge a little.

How nice- I didn't know there was a tradition. It's much more fun doing things when you think of everyone else doing them along with you!

I love fruitcakes and some pudding recipes. I would love to make some this Christmas for my love ones but I'm quite afraid to ruin the traditional taste of a fruitcake. I think I still need more time and experience in making my own cupcake before I can offer some to my family.

I've seen Panettone, Stollen and Lebkuchen but never a steamed pudding in the U. S. stores. Sorry. At Tyson's Corner, there used to be Seibt's Konditorei but they wouldn't have the Christmas Puddings you're referring to. Most Americans don't even know what a Christmas Pudding is because we all expect pudding to be soft and not solid. You know, like the vanilla and chocolate pudding sold in plastic cups in the dairy section.

I don't know if you have Lidl or Aldi stores there, but they do a range of european Christmas specialities, and they are very nice!

There are Aldi stores here in the states. My Mom has many located near her, but we don't have any nearby, so I've never been to one.

Here in the midwest, Aldi doesn't have the best of reputations.

I know they are a no-frills, discount grocery store. I'm inclined to think their reputation is not great here in NY either

I think I am going to try out the one from The Vermont Country Store.
There really isn't an Aldi near me. For the distance I would have to drive, I wouldn't be saving any money.
I have been there a couple of times, and I will say the candy I bought was very inexpensive and very good. One thing I've noticed about European stores, is they don't mess around when it comes to chocolate!:smitten:
