Well we're underway,I bought this tree new last year a GE Pre-Lit Fresh Cut Easy Shape.
It's claim to fame is it's ready to go out of the box( no fluffing needed)
It does need some shaping but all in all it is ready to decorate in a flash.

We have about 30 or so Hallmark ornaments that light up by plugging into power cords.
I put them on first so I can spread them evenly throughout the tree.

I have another half dozen plugin ornaments to go but this is as far as I got yesterday.
We went to a Halloween party last night on the other side of town.
Here in the DFW Metroplex the other side of town is a 120 mile round trip.

Well 110 ornaments so far,the biggest chore with these Hallmark ornaments is they are all individually boxed.

This tree takes longer to decorate than any of the others because along with the ones that plug into the Hallmark Magic Cord many plug into light sockets and
we have several that the tree lights slip into the ornaments to light them up.
Still have all these left to go but I'm going to call it a day.

wow, just wow. We have about 6 or 7 Hallmark ornaments and the rest is just a collage of ornaments. We had about 50 amazing christmas balls that we had collected over the years and a few years ago our basement flooded. It soaking the designs/colors right off the balls. :( Can't wait to see what else you do.

lol, we only have maybe 2 of the hallmark light and motion ornaments and one or two of the regular hallmark ones. gingerelf, you must have been heartbroken at the loss of your beautiful christmas balls.

Well all the ornaments are on the first tree.
Someone asked me how many ornaments ,never really knew so I counted this year total is 255.
I've never found or been able to hang a garland on this tree that I was happy with so I just cram every inch with ornaments.

I was always taught to put lights on first, then ornaments (in our family, we hang ornaments (and put lights) on the inside of the tree, not just the outside), and last comes the tinsel, garland, beads or whatever you might be using for the finishing touches.

It depends upon how you define tinsel. I always put the lights on first then the garland or beads and then the ornaments. When we used tinsel, it was put on last, but then we didn't use garland or beads. It also depends upon how full of a tree you use. With a very full tree - you don't really decorate the inside of the tree

Was enjoying the decorating so much I blew off work yesterday and kept on going.

I tried out some icicles on the train room tree, what do y'all think?
It needs something to fill it in more and I have terrible luck with garlands.
It could definitely use more icicles than what I had if I can remember where I got them.

I had to replace the lights on this little tree.
I used some L.E.D. blue and white snowflake lights that every 4th light twinkles.

As always - Every Year - just BEAUTIFUL!

I remember when you got those Train Snowflakes for the ceiling Papa - one of my favourite features!

I still havn't started decorating even an INCH of my place. I'm TRYING to wait till after my Birthday (Nov 23rd) but I know I wont last!

My goal every year is too be done by Thanksgiving and this year I might actually make it.

my sister's got the same problem. My mother gave her some gorgeous ones years ago and she would like more of them, can't find any that look like them anywhere and my mother couldn't and can't remember where she got them. I gave her a couple boxes of nice ones I got online, but they don't look anything like the ones my mom had given her.

Well this weekend I've moved on to the living room.
I have to say The snowman display in the front entry has grown to a point where I wish it was somewhere we could view it all the time.
That space is only 8foot x 9foot and it's hard to even get good pictures of it as you can tell from what I've posted already.
I'm going to try putting the camera up on the train layout and see if I can get a good picture of the whole display.
I'm considering alternating the entry display between the Snowmen and the Nutcrackers from year to year.
Anyway got started on the living room yesterday.

Learned a couple of years back to put down the village that would be directly under the tree and hook up all the electric cords.
It's a lot easier than laying on the floor sliding them under a decorated tree.

Well set up the 9 footer and had light problems.We've got 8 years out of that tree so time for a new one.
It's a 9 foot GE Easy Shape Grand Spruce with 900 Color Choice LED Lights.(whew that's a mouthful)

what great ideas! first, setting up the village before setting up the tree and second, decorating the top section of the tree before putting it up. do you have to spend time shaping the branches, Papa? That's one of the things I dislike most about the artificial trees I have had, especially the one we have now (which, it looks as though it's time to throw it out, it's about 10 years old and is looking pretty bad, but we've had it about 4 years, maybe. got it at a yard sale.) I would love love LOVE a tree that had clear and multi-color that you could switch like that. I am jealous.

You would love this tree steph it's called an easy shape very little shaping is needed the pictures here are as is right out of the box took all of ten minutes to put it together.
I got it at Costco they also have a 7.5 foot version this one is 9 foot.

The richness of the led color lights is amazing and it uses all of 12 watts, shoot the light in the fridge is 20 or 30.

I think I like the colored lights better although the ornaments are more viable with the white.
