Remember, we all have different tastes in movies, so this isn't a thread to criticize other people's choices. What is the one Christmas movie you simply do NOT like?
For me, it's probably all of The Santa Clause movies. Tim Allen annoys me. A shame too, because he turns up in a lot of holiday movies. :sad elf:
Other than that, I even enjoy the really cheesy ones on the Hallmark Channel!! :singing:

agree, don't like The Grinch too, also don't like Nightmare before Christmas, Bad Santa and Elf (I watch it sometimes but Will Ferrell really annoys me).

Nightmare before christmas is one I don't like. I basically just like the old fashioned movies. I really dont like all of the new stuff...:snowman:

I also do not like the nightmaire before Christmas. I also saw a santa movie once. I forget what it was called but I would NOT want to see it again and don't want my kids to see it either. Santa kept grumping and cussing and basically did not look like he liked his job at all :(
I have to agree... Nothing will quite compare to the older movies. I have enjoyed some newer Christmas movies, but not on the same level as the older classics. Maybe that's just because of the connotation between watching them and my childhood Christmas feelings though, by which I mean to say that perhaps I created associations with those older films to Christmas when I watched them as a child, so that when I watch them now those same old feelings are conjured back up?

HaHa *snowflake* - we have the same taste in movies. Bad Santa is just bad, Nightmare Before Christmas is horrible - I don't even consider it a Christms movie, and Elf I tolerate. You're right - Will Ferrell is very annoying!

Could that movie be Bad Santa? That's the sort of film I don't want to see again.

I don't really like Elf either. I know this is really weird but I have gotten burnt out on a Christmas Story! I used to watch it all the time but now it is played so much on every channel during December it's too much! Still love it, just can't watch it for a while! :christmastree:

I think Bad Santa is hilarious, but I don't even classify it as a Christmas movie. It's just a dirty comedy that happens to center around a thief posing as a mall Santa. Also unlike several of you, I love Wil Ferrell. I think Elf is very entertaining. For the most part though, I agree that nothing says "Christmas" like the classics!! Agree on The Grinch though. Not a huge fan.

I actually LOVE Elf. I saw the Broadway Stage play in NYC Last year too!
I know I'll get in major trouble for saying, but...
I really don't like It's a Wonderful Life.
Doesn't seem Christmassy to me at all. :sad elf:

No trouble at all. This is why I started the thread. It's a Wonderful Life is in my Top 3, yet you don't care for it. I find that interesting. Of course, it goes without saying that it's a darn good thing you and I aren't dating, or we might have issues!

Yeah Mike, I would say "Its a Wonderful Life" is in my top 3 as well! I think it's because of the themes: doing good for others, not putting yourself first, having people in your life who truly care about you is more important than all the money in the world, and so on. These are traditional Christmas themes. That, and the fact that George Bailey's critical night is on Christmas Eve. I can understand not liking this movie. I was not that into it at first. Now that i've seen it at least 50 times, I can honestly say that I see something new in it everytime I watch it!

I agree- my favorites are the classics. I was wondering the same thing about childhood associations.
I don't like the Hallmark type movies (I don't like dramas in general, so that might explain it) and Nightmare Before Christmas is a Hallowe'en movie to me. I pretty much stay away from modern Christmas movies, if I'm really looking to get in the mood (though The Polar Express wasn't bad).

The Hallmark movies are usually pretty terrible. However, my wife and I discovered that we still like to watch even the cheesiest ones because they still fill heart with holiday joy. Plus, it's kind of fun to change up the pace from the usual "staples" that we always like to watch.

I'm not a fan of Bad Santa either. I like my Christmas movies to be kind of Sappy. I have never seen The Jim Carey Grinch movie,Fred Clause or any of the Santa Clause movies because they just don't appeal to me.

Does 3 or 4 even take place at Christmas - that's, like, the #1 best thing about those films.
Except, of course, KEVIN MCALLISTER - having anyone but him is silly.
Ohhhh... Home Alone 1 & 2 MAY BE my FAVOURITE Xmas movies..... I can't wait to watch them in a few months!!!

I really enjoy 1, but 2 leaves me kind of saying "meh". I'd bet you probably like it because it takes place in New York City at Christmas! :elf3:

Oh - you will love, love, love the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City. There is nothing like a live Christms show to get you in the spirit!

Actually I saw it several years ago when it was touring (up in Toronto) - but it was a shorter version, and I'm SURE there's nothing like Radio City in person. Also, this year they've added some new stuff - like 3D effects. Obviously I'm Really Excited!
But this thread is getting off-topic...
Another movie I don't much care for is (surprisingly/ironically) Miracle on 34th Street! The remake isn't so bad, but the original, I never really cared for.

I love many different kinds of movies & I can't recall
not liking any of the ones I've seen.
