Last year I made some reusable gift bags. I hope to make more this year. Today I'm painting some wood snowmen that come unassembled, unpainted in a kit. I never did this before. I guess I'll find out if I have any skill at this.

Gift bags:

Here's a card that I made:

Some links:

Vintage Holiday Templates
http://christmas.tipnut.com/1561/vintage-holiday-templates/

To decorate cheaply in 2011, I would make paper ornaments:

http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl....6l3156l0.7.8l15

If that link doesn't work, I'd go to Google and type "paper ornaments."

These can be made from old cards:

http://www.marthastewart.com/273222/holiday-card-ornaments

These don't take as much time:

http://tctliebel.typepad.com/life_as_we_live_it/2010/11/paper-ornaments.html

If you feel that you are artistic, you could try these:

http://www.bhg.com/christmas/ornaments/paper-snowman-christmas-tree-ornaments/

I love these:

Beads and pipe cleaners are about as easy as it can get! Have you made the beaded candy canes that I just gave a link for? I made my first one today. I had seen them for years. They can be dressed up with bows.

It's hard to say because I got interrupted a few times. I'm thinking that it would take me an hour to cut out and sew without interruptions. There are three pieces of fabric and lots of zigzag stitches. I've always been slow. Others could do it faster.

Yes, I'm saving the planet and saving money. I'll reuse them again and again except the ones I send to friends; friends can reuse them. Now if I had children at home, I couldn't put them under the tree until time to open presents. Last year I asked the grandkids to return the bags to me. Also, last year, I put Lincoln Log canisters in king size pillowcases and tied a knot.

I made three last year and only one (so far) this year. I intend to make more.

Today I went to the fabric store, bought more fabric and thread, then went over to the department store (J. C. Penney) and they had their Christmas ornaments out. They had these fabric birds with felt flowers on their backs. I think I should make some of those, too.
