I love sending charity Christmas cards but a BBC article said that some shops only give 6% of the cover price to the charity! Shame on them.

I read the BBC article myself, i think there are some that give more though.......id expect at least 50% to go to Charity.

Good news is that I've found a site which gives 75% of the card price to charity. Much better!
They are at http://www.cardsforcharity.co.uk/
Happy card shopping... :)

That's a sad statistic considering many big corporate companies send charity cards.

A lot of the cards should have some kind of mark or sticker on them that says 'x' % of this cost goes toward -insert charity- I've bought charity Christmas cards a number of times, also I have bought cards made by handicapped and the money goes to the handicapped centers..

.. a little research and you'll find deserving ones but let that be a lesson not to buy the first one you grab.

At work we have a christmas tree in reception, you buy a tag for £1, write a message, hang it on the tree and all the money goes to a nominated charity.

Therefore covers the people at work you would you would send them to, saves paper/the environment, all the money goes to charity and what's more saves you money.

It's sort of scary but anyone can call themselves a charity. Who really know where the money goes with some of these outfits.

Anyone can CALL themselves a charity, however, there are a number of laws and rules defining a charity in most countries and often time before a Shop or Store signs on to selling this "charity's" product the conduct an inquiry into the Charity's reputability.

The percentages that are actually donated, on the other hand, vary group to group.
