I always put Candy Canes on my trees but I see alot of people don't. I put them on no matter what my theme is. What's everyone's take on Candy Canes on any tree no matter the theme?:christmastree:

I love the idea of candy canes and I always put them on, even though I don't like to eat them. I should think they would add a bit of whimsy to alot of different styles, but I've seen some trees (like blue and purple trees with peacock feathers, etc.) that I'm not too sure that they'd fit in... :christmastree:

We dont put candy canes on the tree. Not cause I dont like the idea, cause I think they look great, but I just have TOO MANY ornaments!
I got always keep a tub full of candy canes on the coffey table for all my visitors

When my children were small I always put candy canes on the tree. And I gave them to friends children who came to visit. But I also decorated my tree in the basic reds/green colors.
When I started doing an all white tree or any other color of tree I stopped putting Candy Canes on the tree. Now at this point in my life even if I do a red tree I will not put Candy Canes on the tree.

When I was little, we always had candy canes on the tree as well as chocolate balls, and gingerbread men. After a few days my mom would have to buy/bake more. This went on for years until one year she announced a new rule of "Nobody eats off the tree until after Christmas." LOL
to be honest i dont eat them the kids do!!
I just love eating them!!!!! Yupiiiiiiii !!!! :candycane1:
And when I buy some, I tell everyone in the family that they are mine!! Just MINE!!!! :candycane1:

I'm going with acrylic candy canes and glass chocolate bars. But I've been known to hang real chocolates on my Hungarian tree.
:candycane1: Maybe I'll buy some "szaloncukor" this year.
When I had blue ornaments, I put real candy canes (blueberry) on the tree. :christmastree:

I haven't put candy canes on the tree in years. I put them in a small Santa boot on my kitchen island and have to refill often.

lol, my mom always did that, too. I can't here in Florida, though, cause they would melt. I have to buy new ones every year.

My mom would sort of do that too. Any canes left over went back in the box for next year. I have no idea why she did this, because candy canes are pretty darn cheap to buy.

I know my mom did it because she was very frugal, having grown up during the Depression.

I always put up candy canes even though my tree theme is gold. It's a nice little contrast and they just belong up there.

Candy canes offer a "cool", sharp contrast to my tree which is decorated mostly in gold. So the red/white really has an effect and stands out, sort of.

I have put them on the tree, but usually don't. Most years I place them hanging in the Christmas stockings.
